How To Measure Your Suit Size

How To Measure Your Suit Size Daily Haute

Overwhelmed by suit sizes? You are not alone. Between jacket numbers, short/regular/long lengths, pant waist sizes, and fit labels like classic, slim, and skinny, men’s suit sizing can feel confusing at first.

This guide will walk you through how to find your best size in Daily Haute’s Gino Vitale and Braveman suits, including how to choose your jacket length, measure your chest, understand the standard pant waist pairing, and pick the right fit.

Step 1: Find your suit length

Gino Vitale and Braveman suits come in three jacket lengths: Short (S), Regular (R), and Long (L). Your height is the best starting point.

Suit Length Recommended Height
Short (S) 5'4" to 5'7"
Regular (R) 5'8" to 6'1"
Long (L) 6'2" to 6'5"

Step 2: Measure your chest

Put on your best-fitting dress shirt. A lightweight t-shirt can also work in a pinch. Wrap a fabric tape measure around the widest part of your chest, under your armpits and across your shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and relaxed, not too tight.

The number on the tape measure is your jacket size. For example, if your chest measures 38 inches, you should start with a size 38 suit. If you measure an odd number, such as 37 inches, round up to the next even size, such as 38.

Step 3: Understand the chest and waist pairing

Most Gino Vitale and Braveman suit sets use a standard 6-inch drop. That means the pant waist is 6 inches smaller than the jacket size. For example, a size 38 jacket is paired with size 32 waist pants.

Important: Suits are sold as sets, so we are unable to mix and match jacket and pant sizes.

Helpful hint: If your chest and waist do not follow the standard 6-inch drop, choose the size that fits your chest and shoulders best, then plan for tailoring if needed.

Step 4: Choose your fit

Once you know your size, choose the fit that best matches your build and the look you want.

  • Classic fit: A roomier, true-to-size cut through the chest, shoulders, and body. This is a good choice if you have a broader build or prefer more room.
  • Slim fit: A more tailored, European-style cut with a trimmer shape through the body. This is a good choice if you prefer a cleaner fitted look off the rack.
  • Skinny fit: The narrowest and most modern fit, often best for slimmer builds or customers who want an extra-fitted silhouette.

Braveman suits are known for sharp, modern suiting options, including slim-fit styles. Gino Vitale suits include contemporary styles such as skinny and extra-slim fits. Always check the product title and fit label on the individual product page before ordering.

Step 5: Plan for tailoring

Suiting is rarely perfect right out of the box. All pants come long and unhemmed so you can have them finished to your preferred length by a local tailor. Some customers may also need small adjustments to the sleeve length, pant waist, or jacket body.

For the best result, allow time for tailoring before your event, especially if you are shopping for a wedding, prom, interview, formal event, or special occasion.
